Hustle Kings and Pure Chess - VooFoo Studios - Game Design
I am currently working as a game designer at VooFoo Studios with is made up of three programmers, three artists and myself.
We recently launched Hustle Kings and Pure Chess which were both launch window titles for PS Vita. Key design tasks included re-designing and re-balancing the entire single player experience, writing tutorials, designing multiplayer game types and challenges, single player points economy design and balancing, narrative and character creation, control scheme design, UI layout and design, and overseeing user testing. I also created, edited and scripted sound effects for both titles.
Castaways - Setgo Games - Game Design
I previously worked as a contract graduate game designer at Setgo Games. We made a social RPG for facebook called Castaways where players are stranded on a mysterious island and must try to survive.
My main responsibilities were designing game features, UX and UI design, story arc conception, game activities and monetization improvement strategies. I worked closely with the Creative Director, a graphic artist, a data analyst and three programmers to ensure design was achievable, progressive and hits our key feature targets.
Twang! - Dare to be Digital 2010 - 3D Art/Design/Audio
I worked in a team of five over the course of the ten week Dare to be Digital competition to take "Twang!" from initial idea to final prototype and then publicly present the game.
I was primarily responsible for creating engine-ready 3D Character and Environment assets, working closely with the concept/texture artist. Design responsibilities included analysing and reviewing power ups, level design and control systems, as well as designing the character selection screens and writing test strategies. I also recorded, edited and scripted all the sound effects for the game.
"Twang!" won the Audience Award and Judges' Award at Dare to be Digital. My team then went on to win the 2011 BAFTA Ones to Watch award.
Astro Ranch by Tag Games - 3D Artist
I was lucky enough to gain a summer internship at Tag Games over the Summer of 2009. Astro Ranch was the main project I worked on.
I worked closely within a team consisting of 2 artists and 1 programmer to take the initial game prototype to alpha. My main responsibilities were Character and Environment assets. These were modelled, textured and exported for use in the Unity iPhone engine.
